I feel comfortable with initiative and dependability. I am creative with my development of lesson plans, I go out of my way to learn new things and continue growing. In this sense, I think I am dependable. I also take initiative in many situations, and work to get better everyday. I complete assignments and develop lesson plans independently and efficiently. This will be important as a teacher, because it will allow for me to move forward consistently, and consistently be pushing myself. I also see myself as successful in the area of desire to improve my own performance. I am constantly reflecting on what I can do better, and I am consistently working to improve my own practices. I think reflection and using reflection for growth is extremely valuable. I am aware of what I have done well, and how I can improve through that. I am comfortable in this area because I am consistently working to improve and better my own teaching.

One area that I think I could improve upon is working in teams. I tend to be the type of person that gets assignments done early, so I don’t have to worry about it later. In group work, this can be challenging because people work in a variety of different ways. In a team, I try to get my part done early, but then get nervous and start doing more work when I see that some of it hasn’t been completed. Not everyone works in the same way that I do, so I need to remember that, and therefore work to develop my skills in working in a team. During student teaching, I can work on building my skills of working in teams through collaborating with my mentor teacher as well as other art teachers in the building.
