FlipGrid

Sienna Bosch

FlipGrid is a tool that allows for teachers to create assignments where students create videos as their submission. This is a great tool that allows for students to interact and speak instead of writing. The teacher can pick the length of the video which is valuable in getting a specific length of response. This can be a great way to get students talking in a way that may be less scary than talking in front of the whole class.

During this screencast, I learned about the bonuses to FlipGrid. I learned how to use the tool, I learned about what it looks like from a teachers standpoint as well as a students standpoint. This is valuable because I can see it from all perspectives and understand all the different ways the tool can be used.

In a face to face classroom, this tool could be really valuable. I think this would be a great way to get students thinking about their art and talking about their art. Students could record a video as an artist statement, or they could record a video that is connecting with their process, showing me what they are doing and talking about the process they are using. This is really valuable in getting students thinking about and talking about their art.

As a remote learning experience, I think FlipGrid could be useful in allowing for the teacher to see what students are working on for their art. What they are creating, what they are thinking about and working towards. This is a way to check in with students during a time of remote learning. I could then offer suggestions and further their understandings. This is valuable in not only letting me see what students are working on and thinking about but also giving them the opportunity to think about what they are working on, why, and how they can move forward.
