Google Earth

Sienna Bosch

Google Earth is a tool that allows for users to explore and learn about places all over the world. This is something that allows for students to go somewhere through the computer. They can learn about the place, see the place, and explore the place.

During the screencast video, I learned about the different tools that are available through Google Earth, and the different ways we can learn about and explore places. I also learned about the random button. This is interesting because it takes you to a random place on Earth. This allows for you to see and explore someplace you may have never thought to look up.

In a face to face art classroom, it could be really valuable to use Google Earth as an inspiration point for students. Many students may not have the resources to be able to travel, so this is a way for them to travel through the computer. They can then use this as inspiration for art making. Students could explore someplace they've never been through Google Earth, and then create a sculpture about what it might feel like to be in that particular place.

In a remote learning classroom, Google Earth could be used in a similar sense. Students could learn more about the world around them, and then explore ways this new learning could be incorporated into their art making. Students could think about ways to incorporate colors from the place, textures from the place, feelings or emotions they experience when exploring the place, etc.
