Newseum

Sienna Bosch

Newseum is a resource that allows for us to connect with what is going on in the world through an online museum. There are several online exhibitions which viewers can look at. One of the most interesting ones I found was called today's front pages. This has the front pages of hundreds of different news sources. This allows for us to get an idea of what is going on in the world today, what people are talking about, thinking about, wondering about, etc.

In a face to face art classroom this could be really valuable inspiration. I could create an assignment where students create their own front page. This could get students thinking about what is important to them at this moment, what are they thinking about? This could be a great way to engage students in something simple yet very valuable and important.

In a remote art classroom, I think students could similarly create their own front page of a newspaper. They could then share these through an online platform, and comment on peers ideas. This could be a good way to get students thinking about the important things to them at the moment and what they are thinking about.
